I am both a biologist and a teacher. I have degrees from UCSC in Biology, Environmental Studies and MS in Marine Science. After several years as a research scientist and teaching part-time at UH I shifted to focusing on elementary science and environmental science education. I have have taught in a range of schools and worked with a variety of teachers. In addition, I have been involved in the design of NGSS aligned curriculum. My particular interest is to better bridge the expertise and resources of informal science organizations (museums, aquariums, nature centers) with classrooms. I have a passion for getting children outside and in direct contact with nature. I am currently taking a year leave from my position as the environmental science and gardening specialist for the American School in London to work on curriculum units for students in middle grades (ages 11-14) including a project with London schools focused on keeping nature journals. I am also spending this year completing a MA degree in Educational Assessment from the Univ. College of London/Institute of Education.
