These days I am fascinated by the world from my east window--old field succession in process.
Catastrophic destruction and succession interruption on the ridge, where my log cabin was completed in July. What next? How can I demonstrate my deep sadness over what I have done through this building, but also immense grateful as this place is bringing me life. It is a safe place from extreme allergies. So I am planting natives, and removing invasives. And doing so with intentionality;
Where/why the boulder stream?
How can I welcome the birds that live on the mountain ridges on both sides of the property: Massanutten Ridge and Little North Mountain, parts of the Appalachian Mountains. This is also the Shenandoah Valley--burned during the Civil War, and full of soldier's blood.
I hope to be a participant in healing, mine and the land's? I look forward to engaging with you all who are doing the same from where you are.
