Karen Talbot
Karen Talbot Art Artist
Rockland, Maine
I'm an artist and educator. Most of my professional work involves illustrating fishes, but I love all natural history subjects, and I'm always excited to learn new things. I was a classroom teacher and learning specialist for 16 years, and now I teach scientific illustration to kids and adults, most recently through the Farnsworth Art Museum. I work in watercolor, colored pencil and acrylic. I have a gallery and studio here on the coast of Maine (although we are currently closed due to COVID) where I usually sell my work and teach classes. I also designed and sell a line of glassware, the Angler's Pint, featuring full-color illustrations of fishes. I'm a passionate gardener and birder, I love to play the ukulele, and my husband Ret (a science writer and journalist) and I have two cats, a small flock of Silver Appleyard ducks, and two rescued pigeons here at Three Bird Farm in Rockland, Maine
